Today I had my first lazy day, and it was quite wonderful. We woke up at eight, which is sleeping in for us. We then made our way over to church. The adventure started when we were attempting to get there via the tube, but many of the lines were closed because of construction. The Underground was packed and we had to find a cooky indirect way to get to Kennington for church. Fortunately we managed to find our way there just in time for sacrament meeting. I am so grateful that we are able to attend wards while we are here. We keep so busy and sometimes it feels like we never get to rest, but when I got to church it's nice to have that time to focus on the gospel. Testimony meeting was amazing because the ward was so anxious to share their testimonies. There was not a moment of silence as people jumped up to share their testimonies. They were all very powerful testimonies, though there was one questionable case when a lady got up and was talking for about fifteen minutes and started talking about how she was going to commit suicide but then decided not to because it was against the law. Bishop Jones had to get up and tell her to wrap it up after she had been talking for a while. That was fun.
The rest of the day was very lazy and very wonderful. We had a great (but somewhat small) dinner and then visited for a while and attempted to get some homework done as well. We also had a Fireside in the classroom where a local member came and talked to us about WWII. He was a child during the Blitz and he shared his experiences during that time. It was really interesting! I love the great opportunities we have to not only learn history, but to be so immersed in it as well! I can really see why the have decided to do these programs! I have never felt so close to history. Also, I bought a UK version of The Book Thief so that I may read it here as well. Favorite book ever, and all this talk of WWII made it so I must read it again. LOVE IT!
Due to the calm nature of the day, I did not take any photos today. I am kind of shocked. I hope my blog is still enjoyable even without.
Thanks for sharing your Sunday testimony testimonial. Your dad spoke today as well . . . about Mormon being so glad that he could recommend his son to the Lord and how he is so proud to be able to do the same for his four sons. Keep making us proud, sweet Jace.
ReplyDeleteI do miss my Coke-making buddy. And not once has anyone invited me for a snow cone!
Still enjoying it very much, with or without pictures! You have such a fun way of conveying your fun day and feelings about everything to us. :) Thank you for keeping us in the loop! You make me want to read The Book Thief very, very much.
