Freaky (spooky, dark, sad and great) Friday

Last Friday was Friday the 13th, but today felt more like a freaky friday sort of day than last week.  In a very entertaining sort of way.  Today was not bad at all, the combination of things that happened today are just some darker material.  I guess I shall just have to tell you about all that happened to help you understand.
First off, it was raining for pretty much the entire day.  The weather here is even more bipolar than back home.  Yesterday it was really sunny all day, and though this morning it looked like the good weather would continue, it was storming by the afternoon.  A group of us woke up this morning to go the the British War Museum.   We were required to go sometime during the trip for our History class, and Wade offered to give a more guided tour today to those that wanted to go with him in the morning (as opposed to sleeping in like most people did).  We went to the museum and saw some very interesting stuff from many of the wars.  They had exhibits dedicated to WWI and WWII.  It was all really fascinating stuff, but was quite sad as well.  There was an entire exhibit dedicated to the Holocaust, which was really hard to walk through.  It made me think of my Holocaust Literature class, and Wade was impressed with how much I already knew about it.  (It also made me think of a certain book that I love....)  It was a great exhibit and I am glad that I went through it, but it was definitely some heavy material to begin the day.
We later made our way over to the Globe to see Richard III.(which was interesting because we didn't know how to get there from the museum and it was still pouring rain).  It was quite the adventure.  We finally managed to find our way, but stopped by a Starbucks so we could get some hot chocolate.  Hot chocolate in July. I LOVE IT!  We were all very nervous about seeing a show in the Globe during weather like this because once again we were groundlings, meaning there would be no roof to block out the rain while we stood the whole time.  The sun actually came out once the performance started, and it stayed pretty nice for most of the show.  It was really interesting because it was an all male cast, so we had several guys that would play the women parts (which became awkward during certain "love scenes").  The show was great, but if you are familiar with the show you know that a lot of people die.  They actually had an interesting take on it as they attempted to make it slightly comedic, but it was still another dose of slightly darker stuff.  (See what I mean by freaky friday yet....again, not in a bad way).
We finish this little trifecta as I went with Paul, Sarah, Emilee and others to see The Women in Black.  A lot of other people in the program had gone to see it and had all recommended it to us.  It's the second longest running show in London, after Mousetrap.  It's well known for being scary and very well done. The entire play only has three actors on stage and it was very intense, scary and actually very good. I enjoyed being there to comfort the girls when they needed it.
So there was my spooky day. The freaky friday.  Lots of weird but so much fun!

 The War Musuem
 Yeah. That's a BULLET
This was part of the Berlin wall.
One of the odd little Olympics mascots scattered throughout London.
So creepy! SO GOOD!
