Today was another surprisingly busy and productive day for a Sunday. At church I taught the lesson in Aaronic Priesthood meeting. I don't remember if I mentioned this, but all the Deacons, Teachers and Priests meet together and there are still only about four of them. Anyways, I gave a lesson on Obedience and it went really well. The whole class was very willing to participate and all had experiences and stories to share. I know that I say this every week, but I am continually impressed with the testimonies that these wonderful people have. I had the sad realization that next week will be our last Sunday with them, as the week after that we will be going to a ward in Edinburgh as we will still be on our north trip. The time is just flying by, I feel like I just barely had my first week there!
After church I went back to the center and did some more homework, getting myself even further ahead. I may have even snuck in a nap. I also finally finished The Book Thief. It hasn't taken me this long to finish a book in a long time. I realized that I have read this book three times in the past year. (I read it for the first time last year at Snowbird). Each of the three times that I have read it, I have read from a different book. At Snowbird I had a paperback copy I had gotten from the BYU bookstore, then I read it again in December from my hardcover copy that I got for Christmas, and I read it again here with my British paperback copy. Random story, but I sure thought it was worth mentioning. Speaking of books....I keep buying them. My suitcase might be a little heavy when I make my way home.
Thais made us amazing Macaroni and Cheese for dinner tonight, and we had a meeting to decide what we will be doing for this next week. Our schedule has never been this up in the air. Plans keep changing as we find out about different events. Tomorrow we will be going to see a Cricket match, but then we had to push one of our classes to another day. Tuesday we also managed to get tickets to a new musical based on Chariots of Fire, meaning we had to move other things to different days as well. It will be interesting to see how this week will play out, and I will be sure to let you all know!
Paul, Sarah, Emilee and I went on another of our London walks in the evening. We took the "City Walk" which took us around the city area by St. Paul's and the Memorial. It took us quite a while, but we got to see another side of London. I keep thinking that I have seen it all, but then I go somewhere new and discover so many different things. Whereas yesterday I got to see a bit more of the nature side, today I saw some of their more modern buildings. I got up close and personal with the Gherkin and saw a beautiful sight of the Shard at night. It was all very amazing. It also helps that the four of us are quite ridiculous and can have a great time even as we get lost while walking around London. We got turned around more than once. We also discovered more of the awesome Olympic Mascot statues. Apparently there are over eighty of them scattered all over the city. My new goal is to find and take pictures with as many of them as possible!
When we got back to the Center we received a happy surprise. Frank's daughters had made cookies for all of us! I got to have milk and cookies!!! I was just thinking today that it had been too long since I had warm homemade cookies! It was delicious. You would also be surprised at how I hardly drink milk at all here. They don't serve it to us very often, and I am to cheap to pay to get some. I will have to make up for that when I get home!
With chocolate chips and milk in my stomach I am content and ready for bed, and another week of discovering new things!
The fun Olympic statues.
London Walking!
Me and the Shard.
London is gorgeous at night.
More statues!
