Well here it is, finals week. This morning we all returned to classes for the last time. Wade and Frank both spent their class time reviewing information with us and passing back papers. All this preparation because finals start this Thursday! Fortunately I managed to survive the paper grading unscathed, though I can't say the same thing about everyone else. An odd atmosphere of sadness seemed to descend upon the whole center as people realized that we would not be playing the rest of the week like we would want to. Fortunately I think I did pretty good and staying positive and attacking the last few essays that I had to work on.
I spent most of the morning and the afternoon doing my homework, taking occasional breaks to go outside and explore a little bit. Our Oyster cards also expired, leaving us a bit stranded until we renew them tomorrow to finish off the trip. That meant that we couldn't run onto the tube to take us where we wanted to go. I stopped by the Tesco to find some treats to get me through the remainder of homework. I met up with Meagan and Kim and the three of us went exploring a bit. We saw the Gray Pigeon man, went to the Hitler mall, avoided a shampoo lady ("I don't wash my hair") and managed to hold onto Kim's candy without eating it! Quite the achievement!!!
More studying (boring) and then a trip to Taza to get Schawarmas! I feel like we are starting to come full circle here. I went to Taza my first day here and have not been back until the today! Peculiar stuff considering it is so good and so cheap! I was nervous that the rest of my evening would also go to studying, which would make for a very boring blog post, but a group of us got together and watched the women's football (soccer) match between USA and Canada. We popped popcorn and ate snacks as we watched the game. It was crazy intense as Canada led out with the points and we managed to follow behind until we were tied 3 to 3! The game went into extra time and it looked like we were going to go into a shoot out when USA managed to score a goal in the last minute! We exploded into cheers (all except for Kaitlin, our resident Canadian) and started cheering loud enough that the people in the streets gave us funny looks through the window. That happens sometimes. It was a perfect way to end a decently stressful day, just cheering and having a good time like a bunch of college students should!
Fortunately since I got lots done today, I should have more time to myself tomorrow and go and do the things that I still have on my bucket list. A group of us will be going to Buckingham Palace and I really want to return to Tower Bridge and a few other sites! It will be interesting to see what I can squeeze in with the time I have left!
Getting ready to watch some Olympic games.
GO USA!!!
If you can't tell we were a little excited.
