Preparations

Yesterday we completed our final prep class. I can't believe how quickly it all went by! This semester has been a fast one in general. I had the sad realization that I didn't really keep up with the blog concerning the prep class like I did with my previous Study Abroad Experience, but I can give a few highlights of what I have learned. Besides, it will be more fun to blog about London anyways.
We have our tentative schedules right now and we will be seeing a lot of wonderful shows throughout London, visiting different theaters and exploring different kinds of productions! It looks like we have a great lineup and I am so stoked! We will be seeing stuff like Antony and Cleopatra, War Horse, King Lear, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and a plethora of other shows that I apparently cannot remember right now. It is going to be great!
To prepare for the theatre experiences, George (one of the instructors for the course) invited us to see a preview of a musical that he had written called Single Wide. He had written the script and teamed up with some wonderful people to perform his show. It was a great experience! It gave us a chance to get to know one another outside of class and share a performance with one another.
My previous adventure was a lot about the historical sights of all of Britain, and we had the opportunity to travel all across the island and see different sights. This trip will be largely focused in London, and I am actually very excited to get to know the city that I love even more. We have been given one week where we can travel wherever we want with different groups. I have teamed up with a great group that will be spending our time in Rome! I was having the hardest time choosing between Rome and Paris, but my group was very persuasive and managed to convince me to join them on their adventure. I am so excited, but suddenly nervous about traveling to a country where I don't understand the language. I do hope to travel to Paris at some point, and have even looked at day or weekend trips. We will see.
On the last day of class we received a lot of papers telling us about traveling, safety, and stuff like rooming. I can't believe that I will be returning in less than a month! Just today we got our housing assignments, and it's going to be very interesting not living in BYU London Center. That place became a second home to me! Instead we will be living in flats on the other side of Hyde Park. The girls will be at Hyde Park Gate while the boys (all three of us) will be at a place called Metrogate. The instructors will be living in two separate buildings as well! I've included some images of Metrogate that I found online. We'll see if it lives up to the images provided.
We are less than a month now!
