I haven't made a post in a while, since my preparation classes have ended. It's been an interesting few weeks since then as I finished up the Winter semester and worked full time as well. I've managed to keep in contact with the group through Facebook and we have continued to plan our own little adventures to be had! I have officially purchased tickets for Antigone, starring Christopher Eccleston! They had standby tickets that I could have purchased the day of the performance for cheaper, but I didn't want to take a chance with that one! I also purchased my ticket to go to the Warner Brothers London Tour Harry Potter! A bunch of people are going to that one together, and I am so excited. I will be able to see the set of Harry Potter and see lots of the actual costumes and props as well! I am very excited for many of the more "cultural" experiences, but I would be lying if I didn't say that this is one of the things I am most excited for as well! I also FINALLY chose where I want to go on my weekend trip. We are given from Thursday to Saturday evening to go wherever we want. Many people in our London group are going to Paris. However, that weekend is apparently a big weekend for Paris, and everything is much more expensive than usual. A ride through the Chunnel costs about $90 one way. Instead I planned a trip with two girls from the group to go to Ireland! We found a flight and a hostel in Dublin that cost us $120 total! I am so excited for that trip, and though we haven't figured out exactly what we will be doing yet, I am stoked just to be going!
I got another email from Wade the other day as well. It mostly had information about buying books and our syllabus, but I wanted to include the wonderful little nugget at the end of the email.
